I came across a post the other night on instagram explaining what "mama" really needs.

The post said "Mama needs wine" and the wine had a big X over it then listed the following:

Paid maternity leave

A postpartum doula

Breastfeeding Support

No unsolicited advice

A nutrient dense meal

A break without guilt

I couldn't have agreed more with the post. Mommy wine culture is so gross. Alcohol can be fun, but at the end of the day it's a drug. The only way we can grow, learn, and heal as mothers is if we face our trauma and obstacles and not drown in alcohol when hurting or stressed while caring for children.

Number one, mommy wine culture is covering up alcohol dependency.

Number two, parenting is precious, but it can also be absolutely draining when you have a "clingy, demanding, and annoying child". Mommy wine cultures encourages the want/need to escape. The more time a parent spends with their child, the more they need alcohol to cope with it. Getting snowed in for the weekend? Alcohol. Dad has to work late 3 nights in a row? Alcohol. Alcohol is not a healthy coping mechanism and that needs to be shouted from the roof tops.

They want mothers addicted, they want mothers drunk. It's just another way to break up the nuclear family. When the people are sleeping, they cannot fight. They aren't open spiritually or mentally.

Mothers need more support.
