Why I don't post photos of my kids faces online

My Instagram post about this kind of went viral.... I knew I had to write a blog about it!

To my friends who choose to share their kids photos on social media, this is not an attack on you

or an intent to make you feel bad if your choices differ from mine. I love seeing your beautiful children and wish that I could post mine sometimes too! This is my personal opinion. After I shared about this on my story yesterday I was so happy to know that a lot of you feel the same way!

In 2017 when my daughter was born, I didn't know ANYONE who didn't post their babies online. After speaking about it with my husband, I knew that we were making the right decision by not posting the baby pics. It was HARD, but I'm so glad we followed through for the reasons I

listed above. Once the photos are online, they are there forever. That's scary!

The internet isn't for children. The world we live in today isn't what it was 30 years ago. It's easy for a pedo or human trafficker to learn a child's name, their face, what school they go to, etc. just by visiting the parents instagram account.

I will not put photos of my children online and have them become adopted into this system involuntarily. Ai and facial recognition are real. There will be more digital kidnapping and privacy breaches for years to come. I will not allow my children to be their experiment.

I know some of you are probably thinking... "What if my profile is set to private?" That's all fine and dandy as long as you are ok with instagram selling your data to China. What that means is photos of your children will be stored on a random server somewhere in China. Lord knows who will have access to those photos, or what the will be used for. Think facial recognition, bio weapons, etc.

I hope this post inspires you. I hope that if you're a new mom and chose not to post pics of your kids, you know that you aren't alone.
